I hope to find some DNA cousins to this line of Harrells. John Harrell b. 1758 in Charles Co., Maryland. Marries in Fairfax, Virginia in 1789. Found in Loudoun Co. in the 1810 Census. Dies 1837 near Front Royal, Virginia. Family Tree DNA says my Y Haplotype is R-yp278 (R1a). There is indication that John’s parents and siblings migrated thru western NC into Tenn & Ky, some settling in southern Indiana.
Hello Ed, I am Gary from Canada. I am very interested in speaking with you about your yDNA profile of R-YP278. It is indicative of Norse ancestral origin and is linked downstream to several notable Scots clans. I am an administrator of a new FTDNA project entitled R-YP276 Norse-Gaels. Looking forward to communicating with you further on this. Best regards, Gary H.
Hello again Ed, please take a look at the FTDNA R-YP276 Norse-Gaels site. Your R-YP278 would descend directly below the haplogroup R-YP276, and directly above R-YP275. We have not yet created the R-YP278 haplogroup category in our site template. Would be pleased to create one for your haplogroup if you wish to join the project. Please review our site overview, background and goals. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Thanks again and best regards, Gary H.
