Petition for a road from widow Cobren’s mill on the South Branch to Patton’s Mill on the South Fork. Last Fall the court cent James McKay and RICHARD HARREL to view a road. They accordingly viewed the road to Ruben P.ts and so to keep down the river on the east side of county line. Prays an order all tithables on Flint Run and its branches from Walter Cunningham’s down to the county line. Note:

The Thomas Harrel listed above had a land warrant which he left with a friend or relative when he “went away” the surveyor was told some twenty years later. Thomas Harrel never returned. I believe this to be Thomas, son of Edward who disappeared about 1720 and showed up in Nansemond co., Va. Thomas his son went there at the time Edward was about to die in 1752. -GLH
