JAMES HARRELL Corp. of 3rd and 4th Virginia Volunteers Regiment in Command by Colonel Thos. Elliott, Robert Lawson and Colonel James Wood. Enlisted Dec. 9, 1777 for 3 yrs; served at White Plains, N.Y., Camp Middlebrook-Robertson Farm. Scottsville-Camp Valley Forge-Camp Morristown, N.J.- He was mustered out 1783. Granted 200 acres of land March 16, 1784 by order of Benjamine Harrison and Thomas Merriweather. His land grant is recorded in Jefferson Co., Ky. (Then Virginia) Old Kentucky Entries and Deeds by Jillson, p. 336, warrant #2766. He also purchased another 400 acres in that county on Beechfork Creek 5/27/1780 near the land of WILLIAM and MOSES HARRELL. His name is listed in the 1783 Tax List for Shenandoah Co. VA.
